Melissa Prestipino, DPT

Melissa graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Movement Science from the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan. Subsequently, Melissa completed her Masters in Physical Therapy from Touro College in NYC, where she was selected from her graduating class to receive the “Maimonides Award for Excellence”, as most outstanding student. She then attained a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Simmons College.

Melissa has been a practicing physical therapist since 2001.  She was previously employed at the prestigious NYU Langone’s Medical Center/Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation in NYC where she was promoted to Senior Physical Therapist. There she worked with patients with a variety of conditions including orthopedic (joint replacements, sports injury, trauma/falls) and neurologic (stroke, ALS, Parkinson’s, Spinal Cord injury). Melissa then transitioned to the outpatient physical therapy setting where she was able to extend her interest in rehabing patients in the later stages of the healing process.  Melissa is known for her compassion and great listening skills, which allows her to give her patients quality and focused care.

Melissa has also completed certifications in personal training and Mat Pilates.  She completed a student internship at the Harkness Center for Dancers at the Hospital for Joint Disease in NYC and has a strong passion for treating dancers, and promoting injury prevention.  Melissa has been taking dance lessons since the age of five and continues to study and perform ballet with the Centre for Dance Artistry in Sparta. She and her husband reside in Sparta along with their two teenaged boys and their pets, Emma, a cat, and Black Lab, Gunner.

I wholeheartedly recommend Melissa. Not only is she a caring and kind therapist, but she is also very knowledgeable and highly skilled. I’ve been to other PT practices and I’ve never received the one-on-one attention that I experienced with Melissa! She is the best!

PT Melissa is my hero! I spent two years searching for someone to help me with the pain I was experiencing before being referred to her. I can’t thank her enough for her professionalism, thoroughness, and guidance that lead to the surgery of my hip. Now she is helping me with the rehabilitation to get back strength and normal gait. I highly recommend her!
